The durability of slate flooring is its finest asset and unlike most man-made products it retains its colour. Slate is unaffected by extremes in temperature, resistant to acid, alkalis and other chemicals, unaffected by UV light, non-combustible and is impermeable to water.

Don't tell anyone but slate floors don't show the dirt! If you are a Mum at home, it means you don't have to sweep as often. If you seal slate with a surface sealer it will enhance colour, prevent staining and make cleaning easier.

Slate floors are tough too, so they are child proof! They don't show stains and they are very tough so difficult to crack or chip. They can scratch though but the scratches are easy to fix.- just sand lightly and re-seal.

Slate Colour Variation Provides Nice Choice

Slate comes in an amazing array of colours from light pink, ochre and charcoal grey to black providing a wide choice of product . The colour is determined by the slate’s mineral composition e.g. slate high in iron contributes will have rustic ochre hues, whilst high levels of organic carbon result in slate that is black in colour.
